Notice your default.
Default is where the most time is spent, yet is the least examined.
Default is the realm of habitual behaviour and hidden beliefs. Beliefs that often live in the dark, outside your conscious awareness.
Your default may or may not be good for you. But, how will you know if you don’t notice what it is? How you feel and how you behave in this state?
So, you must look to find out. And, such looking empowers you with real choice because you will know what is really going on for you. The deeper machinations behind surface actions.
But all this takes effort and determination.
You must consciously intend to notice your default.
It is not really that “an unexamined life is not worth living” as Socrates suggested. It is more that an unexamined life denies us the possibility of really living on our own terms.
